Overview

Bone resorption of the posterior maxilla after an upper molar or premolar is lost leads to maxillary sinus pneumatization and reduction in the volume of bone available for placement of dental implants. Various sinus lift techniques exist to graft extra bone into the maxillary sinus, so that more bone is available to support osseointegration for implant placement.

This clinical webinar will cover assessment, treatment planning and surgical approaches to vertical sinus augmentation for single implant placement.

Course Objectives

CBCT evaluation, bone assessment.

Treatment planning of missing upper posterior teeth.

Anatomical considerations and surgical approaches.

Lateral wall approach and crestal approach.

How to manage sinus membrane perforation.

Immediate vs. delayed implant placement.

Selection and application of graft materials.

Staging of maxillary sinus bone-grafting.

Prevention and management of complications.
